Hiran M Siqueira da Silva
Post-Doctoral Associate/ Exchange Visitor, Short-term Scholar
Hiran M Siqueira da Silva was born in Recife-PE, Brazil. Hiran received his Agronomy Engineer Bachelor’s degree at the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco (UFRPE), Recife-PE in 2005.
On March of 2007, Hiran started his Master’s degree program in the Animal Science department at UFRPE, where he developed some studies related to nutrient cycling in tropical pastures, under the supervision of Dr. Jose Dubeux concluding in 2009.
On March of the same year, he started his PhD program at UFRPE, under the guidance of Dr. Jose Dubeux. During his PhD he focus was to evaluate the nutrient cycling in pastures ecosystems on different Nitrogen Fertilizer and Stocking Rate and the respective correlations between them.
On May of 2012, he had the opportunity to come to Range Cattle Research and Education Center-UF/IFAS in Ona, FL as a visitor scholar where he stayed for five months. During this time, he worked in the Soil and Water Science Program led by Dr. Maria Silveira. On February of 2013, he defended his dissertation obtaining his PhD in the Animal Science Department.
On April of 2013, he started a Post Doctorate program at UFRPE where he worked seven months studying the effects of condensed tannins in different native species in Pernambuco state under the supervision of Dr. Mércia dos Santos (UFRPE) and Dr. James Muir (Texas A&M University). On July of 2014, he began a new Post Doctorate program at UF/IFAS North Florida Research & Education Center in Marianna, FL under the guidance of Dr. Jose Dubeux. In Marianna, Hiran worked in several experiments with warm-season legume species, tropical grasses, and greenhouse gases in agroecosystems.
In July of 2016, Hiran started working as a Post-Doctoral Associate at UF/IFAS Range Cattle Research and Education Center in Ona, FL. He has been involved in the activities of Dr. Vendramini's program.
